About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- New Supplier/new RM Management Support – In coordination with GTPM’s
- Provides technical support to Purchasing in discussions with (new) suppliers and in case of raw material quality problems.
- Coordinates the evaluation work for new/alternative raw materials and provides input (including raw material specification sheet) for final approval of the raw material.
- Supports Regional APQP Process Adherence and Execution
- Shows exemplary behaviour in using appropriate APQP procedures for new/modified materials and challenges Manufacturing to use the appropriate APQP procedure in case of intended change in manufacturing process/hardware.
- Coordinates with Manufacturing to perform capability analyses, participates in the discussion with Manufacturing on the results of the capability analyses and together with Manufacturing defines improvement actions/programs (via PMR).
- Coordinates the preparation for scale up/introduction of a new (or modified) materials with Manufacturing by ensuring transfer of project information and material & processing knowledge and initiates actions required by regional procedures (e.g. SAP code creation, approval for trial, involvement of Purchasing in case of new raw material etc.).
- Ensures right quality focus during process developments (PSDR) by giving input on quality aspects to be tested/checked.
- Regional Manufacturing Support / Operations Support
- Decides on release of non-conforming (out-of-spec) batches of commercial grades. Gives advice in case a non-conforming batch cannot be released.
- Approves sample production of a commercial grade on a non-commercial production line (e.g. laboratory line) and makes a decision on the release of the produced material.
- Approves in case a produced batch needs to be released before standard QC properties are available in order to meet the customer’s timeline.
- Supports Manufacturing with (raw) material related expertise, e.g. in case of manufacturing complaints and raw material issues.
- Supports Manufacturing with material related expertise in case of audits by customer.
- Support to Regional Commercial Team
- Supports ADTS, CAE, BDM, Sales with material technical expertise.
- Acts as complaint processor for performance complaints.
- Acts as challenger in case Application Development requests technically extensive (or expensive) new data generation programs.
- Takes care of technical approval of color development requests
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph.D or M.S. degree in Material Science, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Knowledge on engineering material science, including properties, processing, testing and applications.
- Min 3 years of R&D or technical support experience in a global chemical/material company.
- Experience in direct interaction with customers, outstanding team player
- Proficiency in oral and written English
- Capable of being both conceptual/strategic and operational, with good business acumen and problem solving skills
