About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform admitting duties for patients admitted for hospital services
Assign accurate medical record numbers (MRNs)
Complete medical necessity and compliance checks
Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
Receive and process physician orders
Use an overlay tool while providing customer service
Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
Meet assigned point-of-service goals
Use quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected
Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
Pre-register patient accounts before visits, including inbound and outbound calls
Obtain demographic, insurance, and other patient information, including financial liabilities
Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment-plan options
Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and document witnesses
Review insurance eligibility responses and select applicable insurance plan codes
Enter benefit data to support point-of-service collections and billing processes
Screen Medicare medical necessity using ABN software and distribute ABNs as appropriate
Distribute and document designated forms and pamphlets

Requirements

What you’ll need

1+ years of customer service experience
Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
High School Diploma/GED required
CRCR required within 9 months of hire; company paid
Ability to work onsite at RSFH - Mt. Pleasant Hospital
Ability to perform accurate medical necessity, insurance, registration, and compliance processes
Ability to use insurance verification, ABN, auditing, and reporting systems
Ability to provide compassionate customer service and meet point-of-service goals
