About the role
- Plan, develop, organize, and manage the Patient Access department
- Responsible for performance and effectiveness of admitting, registration, and financial services departments
- Coach and develop all staff performing these functions
- Implement short and long-term plans and objectives to improve customer service and collect quality information
- Provide leadership and contribute to revenue cycle and organizational goals
- Work closely with Director of Patient Access to align processes and procedures with Ensemble policies
- Manage admitting staff responsibilities including MRN assignment, medical necessity/compliance checks, patient instructions, insurance collection, processing physician orders, and customer service
- Manage Financial Service Representatives, ensure accounting processes, balance cash drawer, timely deposits, accurate posting to patient accounts, and completion of logs
- Develop and manage departmental staffing needs and prepare monthly reports
- Establish departmental goals to optimize performance and meet financial goals
- Coordinate employee work schedules for adequate daily staffing
- Collect, interpret and communicate performance data and use data to achieve performance goals
- Work with internal and external customers to make key decisions impacting organization or patients
- Work closely with ancillary departments to establish and maintain positive relations to ensure revenue cycle goals are achieved
- Assist in development of dyad-reporting patient access staff
- Provide training, education, goal-setting, and performance interventions as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification
- Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience in Healthcare Management/Administration (preferred)
- Minimum 2 – 3 year’s management experience in healthcare industry
- Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance or call center preferred
- Experience with Microsoft a must
- Ability to balance numerous priorities and strong prioritization skills
- Ability to understand and master numerous computer applications
- Ability to work with IT department to ensure technological needs are met
