About the role

  • Plan, develop, organize, and manage the Patient Access department
  • Responsible for performance and effectiveness of admitting, registration, and financial services departments
  • Coach and develop all staff performing these functions
  • Implement short and long-term plans and objectives to improve customer service and collect quality information
  • Provide leadership and contribute to revenue cycle and organizational goals
  • Work closely with Director of Patient Access to align processes and procedures
  • Manage admitting staff tasks: assigning MRNs, medical necessity/compliance checks, providing patient instructions, collecting insurance information, processing physician orders, customer service
  • Manage Financial Service Representatives: ensure accounting processes, balancing cash drawer, timely deposits, accurate posting, completing logs
  • Develop and manage departmental staffing needs and schedules
  • Prepare monthly reports and establish departmental goals
  • Collect, interpret and communicate performance data and use it to make decisions
  • Work with internal and external customers and ancillary departments
  • Provide training, education, goal-setting, and performance interventions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience in Healthcare Management/Administration
  • Minimum 2 – 3 year’s management experience in healthcare industry
  • Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance or call center preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft a must
  • Ability to balance numerous priorities
  • Ability to understand and master numerous computer applications
  • Ability to work on-site at the hospital
