About the role
- Perform benefit education and validation including face-to-face review of inpatient benefits, authorization, and collecting inpatient, observation, and outpatient in-bed liability
- Accurately verify and calculate patient liabilities including previous balances and collect patient payments
- Assess patient insurance and financial information to determine liability and collect estimated patient liability during stay
- Complete pre-registration and registration tasks, obtain consents and registration-related forms (consent to treat, observation, Important Message from Medicare)
- Work with eligibility specialists on verification of insurance information, Medicaid and charity processing
- Run daily census and follow-up reports; monitor missed collection opportunities and facilitate process improvements
- Make at least 3 attempts daily to visit a patient’s room if previously preoccupied; note accounts with patient liability daily
- Make follow-up phone calls and send post-discharge letters detailing estimated liability and payment options
- Assist in collection and organization of outpatient orders related to future and current dates of service
Requirements
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
- Must be able to work on-site at Ardent - Hillcrest South in Tulsa, OK
- Ability to perform benefit education and validation, insurance verification, and calculation of patient liabilities
- Experience collecting copays, deductibles, co-insurance, and balances after financial assistance
- Ability to perform pre-registration and registration tasks and obtain signatures for registration-related forms
- Ability to make face-to-face patient visits (minimum 3 attempts per day when patient unavailable)
- Ability to make follow-up phone calls and send post-discharge letters
- Flexible availability; may require nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must meet regulatory compliance requirements
