About the role
- Perform benefit education and validation with face-to-face review of inpatient benefits
- Authorize and collect inpatient, observation, and outpatient in-bed liabilities
- Verify and calculate patient liabilities including previous balances and collect patient payments
- Assess patient insurance and financial information to determine liability
- Utilize face-to-face communication with patients during their stay to collect estimated patient liability
- Work patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow-up reports as assigned
- Facilitate daily inhouse call reviews to validate payor source and authorizations
- Complete pre-registration and registration tasks, including consent and registration-related forms
- Monitor missed collection opportunities for process improvements and follow-up
- Make follow-up phone calls and send post-discharge letters detailing estimated liability and payment options
- Assist eligibility specialists with verification, Medicaid and charity processing
- Run a daily census to determine patients with potential eligibility
- Assist in collection and organization of outpatient orders related to dates of service
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
- Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - Clermont Hospital in Batavia, OH
- May require nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
- Face-to-face patient communication and collection experience
- Ability to verify insurance, calculate patient liabilities, and collect payments
- Ability to perform pre-registration and registration tasks
- Must make at least 3 attempts each day to visit a patient's room if previously preoccupied
- Experience with Medicaid and charity processing and eligibility verification
- Ability to run daily census and work with outpatient orders and revenue cycle systems
