About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate, verify, and optimize new and existing building systems on-site or remotely
- Document, collaborate, and communicate activities, technical issues, and solutions to the project delivery team and Team Manager
- Execute assigned tasks and deliverables on time
- Participate in site surveys, documentation reviews, and due diligence activities
- Develop energy conservation measures
- Participate in design and submittal reviews for new construction commissioning
- Use CxAlloy to document commissioning scopes
- Develop pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests
- Develop technical reports and project observations
- Implement energy conservation measures independently or with project partners
- Review pre-functional checklists against actual site conditions
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and modify building system programming
- Use test instrumentation to troubleshoot, verify, and optimize building system operation
- Oversee and execute functional performance tests for construction-scope acceptance
- Supervise trade partners and sub-consultants on-site when required
- Ensure energy conservation measures and system programming are documented, understood, and archived
- Monitor energy performance and collaborate with the project team to meet performance targets
- Identify, communicate, track, assign, and resolve project issues
- Propose solutions and escalate impediments to the Team Manager and Director
- Follow IS Delivery and IS Technical Services process guidelines and SOPs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
- 5+ years of commissioning or related field experience
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, programming, or building operation management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to safety
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work with minimal or limited information
- Self-directed or able to work with limited direction
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Competency with cloud-based commissioning software platforms
- Engineering Intern (EI) certification preferred
- Commissioning certification from ACG, BCxA, or ASHRAE preferred
- AEE Energy Manager in Training (EMIT) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred
- Building automation systems design and programming experience preferred
- Ability to travel 40–60% of the time to job sites and/or office locations
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
- Ability to work in outdoor, noisy, quiet, tight, and confined environments
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
