About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interact with clients, contractors, and engineers to fulfill position duties
- Analyze, develop, and evaluate systems
- Improve and maintain current systems or create new projects
- Design and draft blueprints
- Visit systems in the field and manage projects
- Collect, compile, organize, and analyze utility consumption data and rates
- Research utility rate changes and deregulated energy cost trends
- Conduct energy benchmarks using EPA Energy Star and other tools
- Review utility invoices, resolve errors with utilities, and create utility budgets
- Conduct energy audits using field surveys and utility data
- Evaluate energy and cost-reduction improvements and develop technical reports
- Develop and implement IPMVP-adherent measurement and verification plans
- Develop energy consumption baselines and adjustments through regression analysis
- Coordinate M&V plans with clients, utilities, analysts, engineers, construction managers, and commissioning agents
- Review metering-system design documents, specifications, and shop drawings
- Verify facility utility performance and validate savings
- Analyze energy performance, utility bills, sub-metering data, and utility costs
- Create, maintain, and distribute M&V dashboards and reports
- Monitor energy, weather, and building automation data
- Identify facility operational issues and recommend corrective actions
- Prepare stakeholder reports
- Develop engineering-based energy models for existing and proposed building operations
- Develop life-cycle cost and engineering economic analyses
- Document engineering calculations and methodologies
- Mentor and train Energy Analysts, Senior Energy Analysts, and Energy Engineers
- Manage day-to-day activities of subordinate energy staff when assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in a related field
- Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
- Experience with energy savings projects
- Experience with life cycle cost analyses
- Experience analyzing utility data
- At least one of: CEM, CMVP, CEP, CEA, EEP, or BEP certification through the Association of Energy Engineers or equivalent
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle complex issues
- Comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter
- Leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring experience or capability
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, mathematical, computer, and technical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Industry and competitor knowledge
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary
- Ability to travel 10% of the time to job sites or office locations
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods, climb stairs, kneel, stand, and perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions
- Ability to adjust and/or move objects up to 20 pounds
