About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage Service Project Managers and oversee all aspects of commercial HVAC and plumbing projects
- Champion project safety, maintain safety meetings, investigate incidents, and involve employees in safety practices
- Lead project execution through the full project life cycle, ensuring code, quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met
- Plan work across all trades and conduct operational project meetings
- Negotiate and prepare vendor and subcontractor purchase orders and evaluate submittals
- Set up projects and job costing systems with labor, material, other, and subcontract cost codes
- Conduct monthly reports and cost reviews, identify deviations, and communicate project status
- Drive cash flow through scheduling values, billing, collections, and subcontractor cash management
- Coordinate lien waivers, state notifications, tax documentation, permits, inspections, and risk-management requirements
- Coordinate project detail drawings and provide quality assurance
- Estimate change orders and obtain approval before customer submission
- Attend jobsite meetings, schedule deliveries, document site activities, review labor reports, requisition tools and materials, track RFIs, approve invoices, and prepare billings and status reports
- Build and maintain customer relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and owners
- Develop field personnel, including workers, foremen, and superintendents
- Verify fabrication and equipment quality, accuracy, delivery, installation, and code compliance
- Finalize O&M and start-up manuals, coordinate start-up and commissioning, and obtain final inspection certification
- Complete punch lists, prepare as-built drawings, issue warranty letters, and conduct owner orientations
- Collect payments and retainage, close project financials, and archive project documentation
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4 Year Degree in Construction Management or applicable fieldwork experience in Plumbing
- Minimum 10+ years’ verifiable Project Management experience working for a mechanical subcontractor in commercial HVAC and Plumbing
- Verifiable experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, including university buildings
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledgeable about the industry and the Company's competitors
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary
- Willingness to travel 0–5% of the time to job sites/office locations
- Ability to climb stairs and remain stationary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to perform light work, including adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds
