About the role

  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, development, execution/construction, and eventual closeout.
  • Develop baseline schedules and cost estimates, including tracking, analysis, and forecasting of project progress to ensure adherence to baselines.
  • Manage the procurement and contracting of third-party services, including negotiation, execution, and oversight.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to leadership, ensuring clear communication of risks, safety, schedule, and budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project reporting, including AFE performance, risk assessments, and ESG considerations.
  • Coordinate long-lead procurement and oversee construction teams and engineering deliverables.
  • Ensure a seamless project handover to operations, ensuring all final project documentation is properly closed out.
  • Lead regulatory applications, permitting, and compliance activities in accordance with ISO's processes.
  • Engage with landowners, community stakeholders, and local authorities to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ensure environmental and regulatory permit compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Actively manage project risks and maintain updates to risk registers and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement by assessing internal processes and implementing best practices.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of project management experience in energy infrastructure, with utility-scale or battery energy storage experience preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading large, complex projects ($100M+).
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and financial modeling, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience with Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) processes and/or Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) connection requirements is considered an asset.
  • PMP certification is also considered an asset.
  • Travel to project sites may be required.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license is essential.
