About the role

  • Prepare, oversee and review development of flood hazard models and related calculations in support of safety analyses for nuclear licensing actions as well as other civil engineering projects
  • Prepare, oversee, and review development of flood hazard descriptions, mitigation measure identification, and evaluations of compliance with plant design tolerances, regulatory requirements, and surface water management impacts for Environmental Reports, Safety Analysis Reports, and other documents submitted to the NRC as part of nuclear plant licensing actions
  • Participate in development of project instructions, data collection plans, and oversee site visits to gather field data, as well as research existing data for input into flood hazard calculations, models, and evaluation reports
  • Support the development of technical content (text, figures, tables) for environmental reports and safety analysis reports
  • Support environmental licensing applications for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public to address environmental and safety concerns related to flood hazards, surface water management, and flood mitigation measures
  • Stay current on relevant regulations, modeling softwares, and flood management best practices
  • Assist in the development and implementation of flood protection measures
  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate complex environmental information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Maintain Quality Assurance records, software validation packages, design verification certification, and other QA-related aspects of safety related analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with Professional Engineering registration
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, nuclear power, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of key flood modeling softwares: e.g.: AutoCAD Civil 3D, FlowMaster, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HMR52, HY8, StormCAD, TR-20, TR-55, HEC-22, WaterCAD, and WSPG
  • Experience working with NRC as well as other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Experience developing technical reports for NRC licensing actions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
