About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist customers and process beverage container returns
- Support daily operations of the Return-It collection facility
- Inspect containers for compliance with recycling program guidelines and deposit-refund eligibility
- Process returns through RVMs and automated equipment
- Handle cash and operate customer deposit-return transactions using Encorp’s proprietary point-of-return system
- Complete accurate daily cash reconciliation
- Prepare and submit end-of-day financial reports to the Finance team
- Monitor beverage-container collection levels and back-of-house storage capacity
- Coordinate inventory levels and shipments with Encorp transporters
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards and follow health and safety procedures
- Follow company policies and procedures and suggest process improvements
- Provide customer service and information about the deposit-return process
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback
- Explain the environmental benefits of recycling and the deposit-return system
- Operate and maintain RVMs and automated sorting equipment
- Follow regular and preventative maintenance procedures
- Coordinate with technical support to resolve equipment issues and escalate to a manager as needed
- Use pallet jacks or other equipment to move materials to storage and prepare them for transporter collection
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset; positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to learn and operate RVMs and automated sorting equipment
- Ability to lift and move materials
- Knowledge and passion for environmental sustainability practices are a plus
- Must be bondable
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a retail chain/franchise environment is an asset
- Knowledge or experience of EPR or alternative recycling programs is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written communication in English
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, Sunday–Thursday, 9am–5pm
