About the role

  • Manage the Medical Affairs budget process, including tracking, quarterly re-allocation, and accruals, including vendor contract negotiations and ensuring resources are used wisely.
  • Oversee the implementation and daily management of CRM (customer relationship management) technology to track external stakeholder engagement.
  • Establish and refine scalable processes, workflows, and SOPs that create order within a dynamic, rapidly growing company.
  • Manage the intake and processing of sponsorships and grants, ensuring all data capture requirements are met for reporting purposes.
  • Be the point-of-contact with internal (MPA, Legal, Finance) and external stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of contracts, progress reports, and payments.
  • Lead the development of integrated conference plans to ensure the seamless collection and sharing of scientific insights.
  • Organize and execute external stakeholder meetings, including advisory boards, focus groups, and satellite symposia to share information on Encoded’s programs.
  • Collaborate to plan and execute patient and medical education programs that address prioritized gaps in gene therapy, disease state, and diagnosis. Represent Encoded at key externally facing meetings, as needed.
  • Develop internal and external materials (brochures, educational animations, booth panels) that differentiate Encoded’s approach and provide critical disease state education to the patient community, while liaising with external vendors to manage timelines and ensure deliverable accuracy
  • Oversee project management for Medical Affairs and Patient Advocacy activities to ensure integration across functions and strict adherence to timelines.
  • Ensure that all interactions, materials, and activities adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance guidance

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in or working with the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Medical Affairs or Patient Advocacy experience
  • Understanding of medical affairs deliverables, including grants, sponsorships, symposia, advisory boards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, with the ability to adapt and to anticipate/overcome obstacles in a fast-paced environment
  • Process-oriented and organized project manager who achieves operational excellence and communication
  • Ability to balance multiple, simultaneous projects and to manage details and deadlines based on team priorities
  • Experience identifying, selecting and managing vendors.
  • Travel internationally and domestically, as required
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a small, pre-commercial or startup environment
  • Prior experience communicating about gene therapy
  • Rare/orphan disease experience
  • Expertise engaging and communicating with patients and/or patient advocacy organizations
