About the role
- Provide expert electrical engineering support to Operations and Projects, including troubleshooting, design reviews, incident investigations, and failure analysis.
- Support electrical power systems, large electric motors and drive systems, process controllers, HMIs, communications networks, and related instrumentation.
- Participate in risk assessments, electrical hazard assessments, and Arc Flash analysis; support implementation of electrical safety standards and safe‑work procedures.
- Provide guidance on equipment specifications, installation practices, maintenance strategies, and design standards.
- Lead or contribute to engineering standards, specifications, and procedures—ensuring consistent application across the organization.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex or systemic technical problems; identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Research emerging technologies and represent Enbridge on industry committees.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the Electrical Community of Practice to share best practices.
- Communicate technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, cost considerations, and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 15 years of operating plant experience, ideally in oil & gas or petrochemical environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (CSA, IEEE, API, NFPA).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally to field sites.
- Preferred: Experience supporting gas transmission pipelines.
- Detailed knowledge of CSA Z462, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584.
- Familiarity with ETAP software.
- Experience with electrical safety programs, pipeline/powerline mitigation, and major motor/drive systems.
- Background working with Solar or GE gas turbine electrical systems.
- Prior project management or design experience on compression station electrical systems.
