About the role
- Leads all aspects of the engineering project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks and supporting information related to assigned facility projects from project development through closeout.
- Ensures that all assigned projects are designed fit for purpose and in accordance with all regulations, environmental, health and safety, applicable industry codes and corporate standards.
- Manages, reviews, and approves the execution of the design work by a third party engineering firm e.g. drawings, technical reports and material listing sheets against the project budget and schedule.
- Reviews vendor materials quotations, evaluates technical bids and recommends to the supervisor selections based on technical merit along with price and delivery.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain to procure material via internal tools.
- Leads and/or supports business initiatives e.g. cost saving opportunities in line with business justification for projects.
- Provides technical guidance to others on the team based upon technical expertise and recommends opportunities for improvement via lessons learned, technical standard change requests, work type specific engineering management plans, contractor evaluations, etc.
Requirements
- Engineering degree.
- Currently registered as a professional engineer P Eng with APEGA in Canada if you reside in one of the Canadian locations.
- Registered as a professional engineer PE if you reside in one of the US locations.
- A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, including roles in engineering and project management.
- Innovative and change leader.
- Ability to resolve issues based on depth and breadth of technical and business knowledge.
- Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with technical and non-technical partners.
- Role requires a valid driver’s license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.
- Valid passport to travel and work between US and Canada.
