About the role

  • Manage clinics on the BEST4 mobile unit and drive mobile units to research sites as per study schedule
  • Administer the Capsule Sponge test and complete the BEST4 participant screening visit following study protocol
  • Confirm participant safety and complete informed consent prior to procedures
  • Manage individual caseloads autonomously while working as part of the wider BEST4 research team
  • Facilitate recruitment, sample collection and data entry; input data into the electronic Case Report Form (eCRF) and related research databases with high accuracy
  • Ensure clinical and regulatory compliance in accordance with ICH-GCP, National Directives and Research Governance
  • Liaise closely with National Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Research Team and project managers at QMUL, Cambridge and EMS to meet study objectives
  • Identify recruitment barriers and implement action plans; maintain effective communication and attend study meetings
  • Provide clinical support and perform other clinical skills as required during participant visits, including emergency response when necessary

Requirements

  • Relevant healthcare qualification (e.g. Paramedic, Midwife, Radiographer, Dietitian or equivalent)
  • Continued CPD
  • Clinical experience working with patients
  • Significant clinical experience working with patients
  • Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • A good understanding of clinical research
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • High level of organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent IT knowledge/skills and proficient in MS Office Software
  • Full, Clean UK Manual Driving Licence (standard car driving licence)
  • Willingness to travel and complete overnight stays as required
  • Ability to perform emergency practices (detachment, bleeding, resuscitation or anaphylactic reaction)
  • Degree in a related subject area (desirable)
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) (desirable)
  • ICH GCP Training (desirable)
  • Training on Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (desirable)
  • Prior research experience (desirable)
  • Upper GI or endoscopy experience (desirable)
  • Experience in Cancer Research (desirable)
  • Experience in Nurse led/Practitioner led clinics (desirable)
  • Prior experience of working with Capsule Sponge device (desirable)
