About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee and review U.S. Statutory (NAIC), U.S. GAAP, regulatory, tax and/or Board financial reporting for separate accounts of the Insurance Company, subsidiaries and affiliates
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual statutory NAIC state financial reporting, supplements, annual audited financial statements and surveys
  • Coordinate investment presentation in quarterly financial statements
  • Research and propose new disclosures and report modifications in response to new pronouncements, guidelines and investment types
  • Interpret new pronouncements and guidelines issued by authoritative associations in relation to U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP and various regulations
  • Recommend appropriate changes to accounting systems and information presentation
  • Research and determine process improvements and system enhancements supporting internal and external reporting initiatives
  • Assist with new process and project implementation
  • Coordinate Investments audits and explain the Company’s position
  • Monitor the reporting database and make adjustments where necessary
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests, including interpreting requests, professionally formatting results and explaining findings
  • Reconcile and research ledger balances for accuracy between multiple systems
  • Prepare U.S. GAAP Annual Registered Financial Statements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 4-6 years of financial reporting experience required
  • Advanced MS Office Skills (Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of various reporting systems (Blackline, EASY, SAP, PAM, Phoenix, Unit Value Cloud)
  • Public accounting or investment related financial reporting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Statutory (NAIC) and/or GAAP accounting principles
  • Previous experience in investments strongly preferred
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to utilize creative thinking towards improvement of business processes and internal controls, and follow-through in all stages from design into implementation
  • Attention to detail, analytical acumen and excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple and competing priorities
  • Self-driven with ability to deal with ambiguity, willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities
  • Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Experience using Alteryx and Wings annual statement software a plus
  • Familiarity with Workiva reporting system and WDesk
