About the role

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for AI/ML and emerging technology risk oversight, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and development.
  • Establish and maintain risk governance, standards, control frameworks, and oversight processes for Generative AI and Machine Learning solutions.
  • Provide risk review and effective challenge across the AI/ML lifecycle, including model design, development, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Partner with data science, engineering, and business teams to embed risk controls throughout the AI/ML lifecycle.
  • Oversee risk assessments, control testing, issue management, and remediation activities related to AI and advanced analytics.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party and vendor risks associated with AI platforms, tools, and data sources.
  • Translate complex technical and model risks into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory guidance, industry standards, and best practices related to AI and model risk management.
  • Prepare and present risk reporting, metrics, and recommendations to leadership and risk committees.
  • Exercise decision authority and independent judgment related to AI/ML risk assessments, control recommendations, issue escalation, and, within defined thresholds, risk positions, remediation plans, and risk acceptances.
  • Provide direct supervision of Senior Analysts and Analysts within Technology Risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience in lieu of advanced education)
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, including LLMs and model training, validation, and deployment
  • Knowledge of Responsible AI principles, model risk management, and data governance
  • Ability to assess and challenge complex technical risks with sound judgment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior leaders
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, rapidly evolving technology environments.
