About the role

  • Establish a governance body to develop, validate, and implement standards that facilitate the exchange and integration of research data and information.
  • Direct and manage the development of technology solutions that are reliable, cost-effective, robust, secure, and meet the needs of the Emory University Research Community.
  • Proactively provide services that anticipate needs and can be customized to meet a broad and changing set of functions.
  • Serve as an informatics/technology expert to the Emory University research community and its strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of grants and solutions design as well as advocate for the research community.
  • Manage information technology staff and make optimal use of the department's resources.
  • Recruit, retain, and foster the development of highly skilled staff.
  • Manage operational, project, and capital budgets, initiate and prioritize projects, balance resources, identify areas of risk and approaches to manage risks, escalate issues to appropriate leadership, and assist with quality project delivery within time, scope, and budget.
  • Research and develop innovative technologies and medical/public health informatics methodologies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and seven years of related work experience which includes the design and implementation of highly complex information systems on multiple platforms, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership or management experience.
