About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and participate in Emerson Planning Process which will include major management events such as board meetings, quarterly business reviews, strategy reviews, and value creation conferences.
  • Develop, in conjunction with staff, long range objectives and strategic plans by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect growth and profitability including macroeconomic trends, competitors, and market position.
  • Coordinate long-term strategic planning and short-term planning process for the business unit
  • Create and maintain quantitative model of competitive participation in markets and geographies.
  • Work with regional and production teams to collect market intelligence, aggregate and analyze for trends, and present results to executive team.
  • Evaluate business performance of product lines and make portfolio recommendations to optimize growth and profitability for global business.
  • Analyze macroeconomic indicators and develop correlation models to track business performance and develop long-range economic models for global business.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to senior management on long and short-range plans as well as work on special projects as assigned.
  • Work closely with marketing, engineering, finance and other departments as necessary in the development of product line business plans.
  • Recruiting and developing new Strategic Planners and assist with the smooth transition of projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years relevant work experience with an understanding of the product development cycle, financial practices, planning, marketing, customer service, and/or manufacturing to drive effective business decisions
  • Some knowledge or experience in business administration, engineering, and/or manufacturing to be able to perform high level economic analysis, financial analysis, financial evaluation, and forecasting
  • Must have demonstrated ability in the rendering of objective business decisions
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and planning skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Advanced presentational skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, occasional international travel
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
