Hardware Ordering Engineer
EmersonHardware Engineer responsible for designing hardware solutions and supporting manufacturing efficiency at Emerson. Collaborating across engineering, project management, and supply chain for successful project execution.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Utilize knowledge of hardware components, cabinet layout variations, marshalling configurations, cabinet cabling, and I/O module options to develop best‑cost solutions aligned with customer requirements.
- Support hardware ordering objectives to meet project milestones and on‑time delivery commitments.
- Perform hardware engineering activities for assigned projects, including system layouts, cabinet configurations, and design development using AutoCAD or comparable design tools.
- Develop, maintain, and update accurate bills of material within the ordering system, including preparing and processing change notices as needed.
- Maintain the AEO controlled parts list to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established standards.
- Partner with marketing and proposals teams to support improved hardware cost estimates.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, supply chain, and manufacturing partners to resolve issues and support smooth project execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to standardize designs, enhance processes, and improve cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related STEM discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience in engineering, ideally within electrical systems, automation, controls, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Ability to interpret customer and project requirements related to hardware design, cabinet layouts, marshalling, cabling, and I/O configurations.
- Experience creating and maintaining bills of material and supporting engineering change processes with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency using engineering or business systems and comfort working with structured part lists and controlled items.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship (U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
