About the role
- Serve as a health informatics and integration advisor supporting interagency EHRM efforts, ensuring alignment between clinical requirements, technical implementation, and federal and VA policies.
- Examine current and planned software applications to assess functionality, integration, and compliance, and document business, data, application, and technology principles required to meet VA and federal standards.
- Support interagency governance and partnerships by liaising between internal and external business, clinical, technical, and governance stakeholders to ensure clear communication of requirements, desired outcomes, and technical constraints.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of governance strategies that enable efficient decision-making and support interagency EHRM objectives.
- Provide clinical informatics subject matter expertise to translate functional and clinical requirements into technical implementation requirements, including architecture support, terminology mapping, prototyping, and testing.
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams to ensure interoperability, healthcare semantics, informatics standards, and usability are consistently applied across multiple platforms supporting EHR modernization.
- Develop executive-level artifacts, standards documentation, and communication materials to support interagency alignment and inform senior leadership decision-making.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in health informatics, health IT, clinical systems, or related fields.
- Experience analyzing and integrating complex software systems within regulated or enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate clinical or functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience supporting governance processes, stakeholder coordination, or interagency collaboration.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, including experience producing artifacts for leadership or executive audiences.
- PhD in Healthcare, Science, Computer Engineering or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline or an additional 12 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
