About the role
- Perform signal and power integrity (SI/PI) analysis to optimize designs for high-speed digital circuits
- Apply independence and creativity to drive project design scope and deliverables
- Conduct simulations and modeling for high-speed interconnects, PCB layouts, and power delivery networks (PDN)
- Work with cross-functional teams (design, layout, test, etc.) to address and resolve SI/PI issues throughout the product development lifecycle
- Analyze and improve PCB layouts to meet electrical performance standards for SI/PI
- Collaborate with engineers to design and verify PCB power distribution networks (PDNs) and ground planes for minimal noise and voltage drops
- Develop and maintain design guidelines, best practices, and testing procedures related to SI/PI
- Work with high-frequency tools and equipment to characterize high-speed designs, including oscilloscopes, TDRs, and vector network analyzers
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex SI/PI issues in simulations and on physical prototypes
- Perform EMC analysis to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize interference
- Use simulation tools such as HyperLynx, Ansys HFSS, or similar for SI/PI analysis
- Document results and communicate findings and recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to SI/PI
Requirements
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Expert user of one or more of the following EDA tools: Altium, Cadence, DxDesigner
- Proficient in simulation tools such as HyperLynx, Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, or similar for SI/PI analysis
- Ability to interpret measurement data and simulations to provide actionable insights
- Experience with differential signaling, transmission line theory, crosstalk, impedance matching, and jitter analysis
- Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and compliance
- Familiarity with common high-speed standards (e.g., PCIe, DDR, USB, HDMI)
- Solid understanding of power integrity, including voltage regulation, noise, and decoupling capacitors
- Knowledge of PCB materials, stack-up, and physical layer for high-speed signaling
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and TDR
