About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Fire boilers and related equipment using test equipment, meters, mechanical abilities, and electrical abilities to ensure proper operation before and during installation
  • Perform independent start-up of boilers and related equipment
  • Interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions
  • Assist the Service team with field service calls, including start-up, troubleshooting, and other service activities
  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment
  • Communicate with customers to determine boiler-specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support
  • Complete field service reports documenting work performed, problems, and hours worked
  • Address issues and concerns through problem-solving
  • Develop and maintain customer relations and rapport
  • Identify new sales opportunities and equipment improvements
  • Promote company products and services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and shop and service employees
  • Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute ratios and percentages
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google App programs
  • Ability to use a tablet and/or smartphone
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, heights, and outdoor weather conditions
  • May require overnight travel and overtime
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering studies preferred
  • Must be punctual, flexible, trainable, and self-starting
