About the role
- Evaluate all phases of the aircraft paint process (washing, sanding, coats application, detailing) seeking improvements in safety, quality, cycle time and cost
- Promote technical integration between operations and engineering for process improvements, new materials testing/approval, and dissemination of technical knowledge
- Resolve complex paint process problems through data collection, analysis, research, adapting/modifying engineering techniques, and recommending solutions
- Review drawings, evaluate processes, components, and materials; resolve design integration issues; develop specifications and safety standards
- Research new materials, equipment, technologies, and methods to improve paint operations
- Establish labor standards, line balancing, and factory layouts to improve material flow and labor efficiencies
- Assure compliance with all applicable specifications and regulations
- Incorporate Lean and P3E processes into daily activities and strive for continuous improvement
Requirements
- Relocation to Melbourne, Florida required
- Bachelor’s degree: Manufacturing engineering (required)
- 15+ years aircraft paint process experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Material Engineering (desired)
- Advanced Engineering degree (desired)
- Six Sigma certification (desired)
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and tools
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) concept and methodology
- Software proficiency: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Desired software: Catia, MES, SAP
- Ability to work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team worker, resilient, proactive, flexible, organized, detail and results oriented
- Willingness to learn and work with people from different cultures and backgrounds
