About the role

  • Inspire and develop your team: Mentor engineers through regular 1:1s, career development conversations, and performance feedback. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
  • Own delivery and execution: Ensure your team delivers high-quality software on time, aligned with company goals. Remove blockers and optimize workflows for efficiency.
  • Champion process and engineering excellence: Continuously improve development processes, team workflows, and coding standards. Advocate for best practices and agile methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance: Support architectural decisions, guide complex technical challenges, and ensure scalability and robustness across systems.
  • Collaborate across functions: Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and other teams to ensure alignment, clear communication, and seamless integration of features.
  • Grow the team: Actively participate in recruiting, conducting interviews, assessing technical and cultural fit, and helping attract top talent.
  • Ensure operational excellence: Oversee the health, scalability, and reliability of your team’s systems. Promote a culture of operational awareness.
  • Be a cultural ambassador: Uphold Embat’s values (ambition, teamwork, and humility) in everything you do.

Requirements

  • 2+ years as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead, with 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience (ideally JavaScript/NodeJS/React).
  • Proven experience leading teams and delivering complex software products in agile environments.
  • Strong passion for mentoring and coaching engineers at different career stages.
  • Solid technical foundation, capable of guiding teams on architecture, performance, and scalability.
  • Ability to drive results through others while fostering a collaborative, psychologically safe culture.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on engineering excellence and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Based in Spain (ideally Madrid) or willing to relocate.
