About the role
- Write maintainable code that solves real business problems, not just completes tickets
- Question requirements and suggest simpler alternatives when you spot unnecessary complexity
- Work within small teams (product managers, designers, engineers) to build features that users actually need
- Collaborate with product and design to understand the "why" behind features before diving into implementation
- Take ownership of small features from development through deployment and monitoring
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, basic system design)
- Understanding of backend development basics (HTTP, databases, APIs) - we primarily use Go but can teach syntax if you understand the concepts
- Frontend development experience with any modern framework (Angular, ReactJS, VueJS)
- Experience with version control (Git) and working in a team environment
- Basic understanding of how web applications scale and perform under load
- Ability to ask good questions and push back respectfully when something doesn't make sense
- English proficiency for team communication
- Minimum 2 years of relevant project work or internship experience
- Good to haves: focus on understanding concepts deeply rather than memorizing framework APIs
- Good to haves: comfortable saying "I don't know, but I'll figure it out."
- Good to haves: ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
- Good to haves: experience measuring if features were actually being used
- Good to haves: naturally ask "why are we building this?" before "how should I build it?"
