About the role

  • Elliptic is looking for an energetic, and ambitious finance professional to help with the day to day of the finance function for this high-growth SaaS business.
  • Reporting to the financial controller, this person will work closely with all the finance team members and will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, month-end close, audit readiness, and overall financial compliance.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with UK GAAP.
  • Support the external audit processes end to end i.e. from planning through to the signing of the Group Consolidated Financial statements & stand-alone entity Financial statements.
  • Ensure all financial records are complete, accurate , and maintain in compliance with company policies and statutory requirements per UK GAAP and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Supporting and working with local accounting, tax, valuation and corporate services providers in the UK, US, Singapore and Japan.
  • Own the tax filings and related regulatory reporting for both direct and indirect taxes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end/ year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, payroll, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Producing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP.
  • Prepare management reports, and board / investor presentations including variance analysis.
  • Monitor revenue recognition in accordance with UK GAAP for SaaS-based subscriptions including journals prepared by the Revenue Accountant.
  • Partnering with the Sales Operations team to review and agree monthly Commissions.
  • Liaising with outsourced payroll providers and Elliptic’s People Operations team for monthly payroll
  • Manage the accounts payable cycle, releasing supplier payments and troubleshooting any issues arising in Tipalti.
  • Floating payroll, supplier payments and employee reimbursement tools.
  • Approving invoices (one-off, new wins, renewals, and customer expansions).
  • Management of the various finance inboxes & helping with queries across different teams.
  • Work closely with the Revenue Accountant / Assistant Management. Accountant to ensure timely sales invoicing, collections and credit control.
  • Perform monthly checks of ARR reports against the accounting system to ensure all contractually billable items have been invoiced.
  • Work closely with FP&A team to ensure ARR reporting accuracy and completeness.
  • Support finance transformation or scaling projects.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and financial system improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business decision-making.
  • Following and adhering to the financial control process and suggesting improvements to enhance the financial control environment.
  • Maintain and update detailed process notes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key financial tasks, ensuring clarity, compliance with current policies, and alignment with team workflows.
  • Manage and mentor the Assistant Management Accountant.
  • Provide regular coaching, support professional development goals, and create clear accountability through goal setting, feedback, and performance evaluation.
  • Delegate responsibilities and gradually expand the scope of your direct report’s contributions to match their growing skills and company needs.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACA, CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a scaling tech or SaaS company
  • Strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition principles and subscription-based business models.
  • Experience managing accounting close cycles, audits, and financial statement preparation.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring junior finance team members
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and UK GAAP accounting standards.
  • Strong communicator with effective team collaboration skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement attitude
  • Enthusiastic and proactive personality
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and/or NetSuite
  • Skilled with Excel and the Google Workspace suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides)
  • Familiarity with reporting and financial modeling tools
  • 3+ years of post professional qualification experience (ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, CA) in a similar role (bonus)
