About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams based on institutional policies and/or practice standards and/or follows the directive of the interpreting physician to assist in the completion of the mammography exam.
  • Performs mammography procedures based on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) “Mammography Practice Standards” and the ASRT “Code of Ethics”
  • Performs interventional breast imaging procedures according to departmental procedures and policies and under the direction of a radiologist and Medical Director, Breast Imaging
  • Understands and adheres to departmental exam protocols
  • Actively participates in quality control and quality assurance activities using the “APIE” model
  • Performs equipment quality control per protocols at specified intervals in order to assure accurate performance of equipment and meet regulatory requirements
  • Interviews and schedules patients for interventional breast procedures, explains procedures, and assures that the patient’s questions and needs are met

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Successful completion of an accredited Radiological Technologist program, Required
  • 5 years of experience as a radiologic technologist, Required
  • Experience with biopsy procedures specifically stereotactic and ultrasound is strongly preferred
  • Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Required
  • Certified by ARRT in Mammography, Required
  • Ability to obtain BLS during employment
