About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, architect, and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions
Collaborate with engineers using design reviews, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD best practices
Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs
Implement containerization solutions, particularly using Kubernetes
Translate business requirements into technical solutions with R&D, Data Science, IT Operations, and AI/ML teams
Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through monitoring, automated testing, and continuous improvement
Troubleshoot complex issues in microservice architectures and develop mitigation strategies
Monitor and track operational metrics
Integrate AI/ML models into production environments for scalability, performance, and reliability
Develop AI and informatics tools to accelerate Lilly’s drug discovery process
Collaborate with Lilly Research Labs, AI, Software Engineering, and external industry partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript
Experience with containers, serverless technologies, Kubernetes, and other hosting targets
Understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs
Experience applying test-driven development methodologies
Experience using CI tools for automated testing and CD tools for automated deployment
Experience applying systems engineering concepts to distributed systems with high-throughput and high-availability requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering
Minimum 4 years of experience in architecture and software engineering
Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional IT solutions preferred
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering preferred
