About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, architect, and develop robust, scalable, and secure software solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers using design reviews, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD best practices
  • Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs
  • Implement containerization solutions, particularly using Kubernetes
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions with R&D, Data Science, IT Operations, and AI/ML teams
  • Ensure system performance, reliability, and security through monitoring, automated testing, and continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in microservice architectures and develop mitigation strategies
  • Monitor and track operational metrics
  • Integrate AI/ML models into production environments for scalability, performance, and reliability
  • Develop AI and informatics tools to accelerate Lilly’s drug discovery process
  • Collaborate with Lilly Research Labs, AI, Software Engineering, and external industry partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript
  • Experience with containers, serverless technologies, Kubernetes, and other hosting targets
  • Understanding of HTTP and RESTful APIs
  • Experience applying test-driven development methodologies
  • Experience using CI tools for automated testing and CD tools for automated deployment
  • Experience applying systems engineering concepts to distributed systems with high-throughput and high-availability requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in architecture and software engineering
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional IT solutions preferred
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering preferred
