About the role
- Supervise and train personnel involved in explosive test site operations.
- Lead and manage explosive fielding operations across multiple test sites.
- Plan, develop, and integrate EOD operations for all types of contingency operations.
- Advise, integrate, and execute the safe operations of explosive ordnance disposal functions stemming from threats posed by unexploded ordnance (UXO).
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and DoD safety regulations, including OSHA and HAZWOPER standards.
- Interpret and apply explosives safety regulations.
- Provide technical safety instruction to employees and supervisors on explosives handling, hazardous materials storage, and range safety.
- Maintain and enforce range safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for explosive operations.
- Oversee the inspection, storage, inventory and transportation of explosive materials.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
- Maintain qualifications and certifications for operating forklifts and other vehicles used in explosive operations.
- Assist EOD Manager in MEC and MPPEH determinations.
- Assist EOD Manager in MD processing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of U.S. Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) Phase II.
- Certified EOD Team Leader.
- TP-18 UXOSO/UXOQCS Qualified.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing an explosive test range as a Range Safety Officer.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in high-risk environments and make rapid decisions under pressure.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
- 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification with current 8-hour refresher (preferred).
- Active Secret Clearance (preferred).
- Forklift certification (up to 10k capacity) and ability to operate other required vehicles.
- 8 years of experience managing an explosive test range as a Range Safety Officer (preferred).
