About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in the Scale Up Laboratory to promote efficient product scale-ups and support continuous improvement projects
  • Provide support to the Scale-Up Lab by supervising and performing quality control functions for final products and laboratory equipment
  • Ensure required Scale-Up Lab tests are accurately completed on time and meet defined specifications
  • Supervise or perform batch testing to understand product and process characteristics and cause-and-effect relationships
  • Evaluate data and draft reports, including deviations from standards
  • Follow material test methods and maintain test data for review
  • Schedule aging studies and report generated data
  • Develop and maintain inspection reports
  • Support ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems
  • Maintain calibration of quality control equipment
  • Manage raw material storage, inventory reporting, labeling, utilization, and storage procedures
  • Perform regular 5S audits of the laboratory and report results
  • Oversee storage and disposal of testing materials according to internal procedures
  • Work with the Scale-up team on batch making and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, company standards, and specifications
  • Identify quality control improvements and implement new methods
  • Communicate quality or compliance concerns urgently
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and more than 7 years of relevant experience, or MS and more than 3 years of relevant experience
  • Effective exposure to and training in Continuous Improvement Methodology, similar to Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Thorough engineering and application knowledge
  • Ability to develop structure-property relationships
  • Solid understanding of key plant processes at primary manufacturing locations; experience preferable
  • Well-developed communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information
  • Practical understanding and working knowledge of a laboratory environment
  • Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats
  • Ability to work in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, multitask environment
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Well-organized and detail oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Demonstrated capacity with Microsoft Office products, Lotus Notes, and other critical computer applications
