Director – Employee Relations
Element Fleet ManagementDirector of Employee Relations managing Element's global employee relations strategy and compliance. Establishing governance frameworks and leading employee conduct oversight processes.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide employee relations strategy aligned with Element's people and business objectives.
- Establish governance frameworks, policies, standards, and processes that promote fair, consistent, and legally compliant employee practices.
- Lead ongoing review and enhancement of employee policies, codes of conduct, workplace standards, and governance controls.
- Lead complex and high-risk employee relations matters including misconduct allegations, harassment complaints, discrimination claims, retaliation concerns, ethics investigations, and executive-level cases.
- Ensure investigations are conducted consistently, objectively, and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and people leaders on sensitive employee matters.
- Provide expert guidance on performance management, employee conduct, workplace conflict, organizational change, and policy interpretation.
- Monitor employment law developments across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Lead and develop the Manager, Employee Relations & HR Governance.
- Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to employee relations matters.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Employment Law, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience with significant focus on employee relations, workplace investigations, and employment law.
- Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience managing HR or Employee Relations professionals.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise employee relations strategies and governance programs.
- Extensive experience conducting and overseeing complex workplace investigations.
- Experience partnering with executive leaders on high-risk employee matters.
- Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business Administration, or Juris Doctor (JD).
- CHRL, CHRE, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent professional designation.
- Experience supporting multinational organizations across North America.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Experience within highly regulated, publicly traded, financial services, fleet management, transportation, or professional services environments.
