About the role

  • Use proactive account research, lead generation, engagement, and relationship management techniques to consistently meet personal and team sales goals.
  • Analyze customer needs to proactively identify new product possibilities, including those enabled by Elegen technology.
  • Actively maintain and expand the client database within your assigned territory.
  • Direct attention towards key accounts with the capability to generate consistent volumes of business.
  • Ensure customer success and strategically optimize the customer journey at Elegen.
  • Regularly contribute valuable insights to management on sales budgets, forecasting, and effective sales strategies/models.
  • Attend meetings, sales events, and training sessions to remain abreast of the latest developments in the industry.
  • Accelerate sales growth by visiting customer sites as needed to actively support and contribute to incremental business growth.

Requirements

  • A degree in the life sciences or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of proven sales experience; track record of achieving quotas on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Strong working knowledge of synthetic DNA, how it is used across the biotech industry, and the players in this market.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to set relevant goals and execute in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • A self-starter eager to be part of building a sales organization that will scale and grow.
  • An ability to foster teamwork across the growing sales and marketing team.
