About the role

  • Edit and produce high-quality, social-first short-form video content, optimised for platform performance at every stage.
  • Design and animate clear, engaging motion graphic sequences that bring complex scientific concepts to life.
  • Edit branded short form video content, working closely with the sponsorship sales team, and pitching ideas in response to briefs from brands when required.
  • Lead the post-production process for videos end-to-end, including editing, sound design, graphics, animation, and versioning.
  • Adapt content for multiple platforms, from YouTube Shorts to Patreon to Facebook.
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously, balancing speed, quality, and budget without compromising creative standards.
  • Ensure all output meets Veritasium’s editorial, brand, and client expectations.
  • Proactively develop and evolve new short-form formats and creative approaches in collaboration with editorial and commercial teams.
  • Provide strong creative direction across both editorial and branded content projects.
  • Brainstorm, test, and pilot new ideas with a clear understanding of social-first audience behaviour and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Proven track record delivering high-performing social-first video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Strong technical expertise in editing and post-production workflows, with advanced experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Skilled in motion graphics, keyframe animation, and basic visual effects.
  • Strong understanding of platform algorithms, best practices, and audience engagement drivers.
  • Data-led mindset, able to study competitors and iterate on success.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to balance creative ambition with brand and business objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to collaborate effectively across editorial and commercial teams.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear and confident communicator.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI tools for video production, with experience applying them in real-world workflows.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and innovative, with a passion for social-first storytelling.
  • Good understanding of the STEM short form video competitor space.
  • Interest in science.
  • Ability in 3D animation software, eg Blender, is a nice to have.
