About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in comprehensive or stratified audits related to skilled home health, hospice, palliative care, personal care services, and behavioral health
  • Audit billing compliance trends and deliver education to agency leaders
  • Provide recommendations and positive feedback to the Billing Compliance Audit team
  • Prepare written audit results for agency leaders after audit findings are finalized
  • Provide secondary review and oversight of PCS policy development, revisions, and reviews
  • Assist with compliance and quality education and updates to compliance resource manuals, policies, procedures, and tools
  • Review audits for accuracy and ensure auditors understand and follow billing rules
  • Monitor audit deficiencies and develop broad-based remediation training
  • Collaborate with clinicians, managers, account executives, intake coordinators, directors, and administrative staff on regulatory compliance
  • Advise clinicians and Clinical Managers on coding, documentation, OASIS guidelines, and CMS questions
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Department across functional compliance areas
  • Maintain patient and staff privacy and confidentiality under HIPAA
  • Maintain knowledge of payment regulations, federal and state laws, and accreditation standards
  • Escalate serious compliance, billing, and business risks to compliance and functional leadership
  • Help ensure audit programs emphasize prevention, timely reporting, and remediation
  • Partner with operational leaders on compliance initiatives and risk-based action plans
  • Attend audit findings calls and assist with corrective action plans and timely implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Corporate Compliance healthcare coding/billing audit
  • Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated leadership ability
  • Certified Homecare Coding Specialist (HCS-D), Certified OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C), or willingness to obtain within one (1) year
  • Registered Nurse with home health and hospice coding experience
  • Meets all applicable agency policies and procedures related to health screening and required testing
  • Minimal travel required
