About the role

  • Support the Head of Horizon Lab in budget planning, financial forecasting, and performance analysis, providing insights on variances, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Manage the financial aspects of EU-funded projects across the full grant lifecycle, from grant agreement preparation to project implementation and closure, ensuring compliance with grant conditions and timelines, including the tracking, updating, and monitoring of project budgets and expenditures, ensuring financial discipline and timely identification of deviations.
  • Prepare accurate and compliant budgets for new project proposals, ensuring all eligible cost categories are fully captured and aligned with the project scope, funding scheme, and Horizon Europe rules.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial reports for Horizon Europe projects, including European Commission reporting and consolidated actuals reporting to headquarters.
  • Provide financial guidance on project-related calls and grant management, including Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP), advising beneficiaries on eligibility, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure all financial transactions and project expenditures comply with EU Financial Regulations, Horizon Europe rules, and internal financial procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain robust financial controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Act as the financial interface with Operations, collaborating closely with Finance, Legal, Technology, and PMO teams to ensure coherent and compliant project delivery.

Requirements

  • A degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Written and spoken English (C1)
  • At least 5 years of working experience in financial management.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with EU grant management
  • Strong proven understanding of EU financial regulations and Horizon Europe/Digital Europe rules
  • Proven ability in budget preparation, monitoring, forecasting, expenditure tracking and audit support
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
  • Versatile in teamwork on all organisational levels and experience from working in a matrix-type organisation.
  • Any additional EU language.
