About the role
- support forensic accounting professionals in delivering accurate, organized, and defensible financial analyses for matrimonial and divorce proceedings.
- Assist forensic accountants in preparing financial analyses for matrimonial and divorce litigation.
- Collect, review, and organize financial documents including tax returns, bank statements, credit card statements, business records, payroll records, and investment accounts.
- Prepare document summaries, and supporting exhibits for expert reports and court presentations.
- Conduct preliminary financial tracing of income, expenses, and assets.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files at all times to ensure up to date production control in compliance with confidentiality standards at all times.
- Communicate with attorneys, clients, and third parties to obtain required financial documentation.
- Assist with discovery requests, subpoenas, and document productions.
- Support preparation for depositions, mediation, settlement conferences, and trial.
- Perform data entry and reconciliation of financial information using spreadsheets and accounting software.
- Ensure all work is completed within deadlines and adheres to legal and ethical standards Prepare conflict checks, engagement letters, billing and miscellaneous administrative functions.
- May be required to occasionally work extended hours, or travel to/work from different firm offices and/or client locations.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, legal support, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in family law, forensic accounting, or litigation support.
- Familiarity with accounting softwares, or financial analysis tools.
- Experience preparing trial exhibits or expert report support materials for court
- Knowledge of asset tracing and lifestyle analysis in divorce cases.
- Strong understanding of financial documents, including tax returns and bank records.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF management tools.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
