About the role
- Develop scanning acoustic microscopy recipes for engineering samples and inline BKM set.
- Investigate root causes and defects using SEM, OM, and EDX for troubleshooting.
- Support metrology recipe development and establish critical dimension, thickness, and warpage BKM set.
- Monitor defect maps and trends; address Lot Holds at MRDA steps and manage OOC events and tactical issues.
- Own and develop inspection processes aligned with technology roadmaps.
- Qualify new methods (e.g., Automated Defect Classification) with tool and software suppliers.
- Identify improvement opportunities and propose novel solutions for roadmap gaps.
- Build and complete experiments, gather data, and propose inspection improvements.
- Use manufacturing and data analysis software (GeRM, MES, MAM, SPC, CQ, JMP, Yield3, Klarity/Discover, MS Office) to execute SWR and assess experiments.
- Evaluate process flow to identify interdependencies and data-collection gaps.
- Characterize process and equipment capabilities; implement process control limits to ensure process health.
- Develop quality assurance and control schemes for new equipment and processes.
- Document processes for transition to different R&D teams.
- Drive tool procurement including identification, installation, and qualification; work within DOC-2, SAC, FAC processes.
- Understand upstream and downstream process interactions and ensure process requirements are met.
- Train and apply KT or other problem-solving and decision analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with tool vendors to establish technology requirements and CIP for existing tooling.
Requirements
- Masters or Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar; or B.S. degree with 5+ years relevant industry experience.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (if only B.S.).
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Strong communication skills to convey proposals, concepts, and ideas to diverse audiences.
- Capability to prioritize activities and drive them to completion within budget and on time.
- Self-motivation to learn process details and understand their impact on overall performance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment or as an individual contributor.
- Proficiency in communicating with engineers and technicians across various areas and sites.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and device process flows.
- Experience in applied statistics and strong data analysis skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience with scanning acoustic microscopy recipe development.
- Experience using SEM, OM, and EDX for defect analysis and troubleshooting.
- Metrology recipe development experience (critical dimension, thickness, warpage).
