QA Automation Engineer

• Develop and maintain Siemens PLC software using TIA Portal, writing code that is structured, readable, and built to be handed over.
• Create and manage electrical schematics in EPLAN Electric P8, ensuring plans are complete, accurate, and aligned with what the build and deployment teams actually need.
• Own PLC version control workflows - establishing and maintaining the practices that keep automation software traceable and recoverable.
• Set up communication protocols including IO-Link, Profisafe, and Profinet, and interface with external controllers such as VFDs, remote I/O, and IO-Link devices.
• Support R&D on automation and hardware architecture decisions for robotic cells, contributing from the controls and electrical perspective early in the design process.
• Commission and troubleshoot cells during delivery and deployment, including on-site at customer facilities.
• Lead or support Factory Acceptance Tests, ensuring cells meet specification before handoff.
• Diagnose and resolve customer hardware issues, working closely with Forward Deploy and Operational Support Engineers in the field.

• Work on real robots, not prototypes
• Take ownership of customer deployments from integration through to sign-off
• Solve engineering challenges across robotics software, system integration, and field performance
• Be involved across the full lifecycle - from understanding customer requirements to delivering robust, production-ready systems on-site
• Contribute to how we improve and scale deployments over time
• Develop and customise robotic behaviours for customer deployments by extending existing platform components (e.g. behaviour trees)
• Implement missing functionality and resolve complex software and system integration issues critical to successful deployments
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis across robotics software, hardware, networking, and system integrations in live production environments
• Diagnose and resolve deployment-critical issues across manipulation, motion planning, perception, and execution pipelines
• Perform hands-on integration, validation, and stress testing on real robotic hardware
• Integrate systems using ROS2 across the full execution pipeline, from perception and motion to PLC interfaces
• Own deployment readiness, including technical sign-off, delivery planning, and effort estimation
• Collaborate with Field Deployment, AI, and Simulation teams to ensure smooth execution
• Contribute to documentation, deployment processes, and engineering best practices
