About the role
- Provide guidance and leadership to newer colleagues on complex engineering assignments
- Survey property, casualty and liability losses at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes
- Conduct investigations to determine the root cause of events and failures
- Work closely with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports and drawings outlining cause and origin of losses
- Develop plans, reports and drawings to meet client needs and document failure analysis and causation
- Provide expert testimony in court and/or depositions
- Determine applicable engineering practices to fulfill scope, timelines, and cost estimates
- Document and maintain billable hours and expenses for projects
- Collaborate with sales and operations managers, architects, developers, insurance adjusters, claims managers and attorneys
- Collaborate with EFIs national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects
- Perform other duties as assigned and support the organizations quality programs
Requirements
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required (Florida)
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required
- Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required
- Minimum two (2) years engineering experience specifically in failure analysis and forensic engineering
- Minimum two (2) years experience in insurance and/or risk management services industry
- Excellent oral and written communication
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
- Ability to provide expert testimony in court and/or depositions
- Physical ability to stand/walk long periods, kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, reach/overhead
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
