About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partnering with hiring managers to fill critical roles on the team.
  • Understanding hiring manager needs, calibrating with them throughout the process; serving as a thought partner and resource for hiring managers on recruiting best practices.
  • Writing compelling job descriptions and launching open roles.
  • Sourcing and attracting candidates through proactive outreach and network building.
  • Screening applications and conducting initial interviews.
  • Supporting the development and grading of test tasks in collaboration with hiring managers.
  • Coordinating interview schedules between candidates and hiring teams.
  • Conducting reference checks.
  • Managing offer processes.
  • Maintaining high standards and an excellent candidate experience throughout, ensuring communications reflect CEA's values.
  • Project-managing the hiring rounds, keeping everything moving on time to meet recruiting targets, and adapting in response to changing priorities.
  • Contributing to process improvement projects. This will start with clearly-scoped projects. Over time, your role may expand to include ownership over a particular area of recruiting operations (e.g., employer brand, sourcing, etc).
  • Tracking and maintaining candidate pipeline data.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Are organized and detail-oriented: you can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping balls, and you know how to prioritize when things get busy.
  • Have strong internal stakeholder management skills and instincts: you enjoy working closely with teams across the organization, can adapt to different working styles and priorities, and are comfortable navigating situations where you need to push back or redirect without friction.
  • Adapt well to shifting priorities: you’re not thrown off by the need to pivot. You regularly evaluate your own priorities and can quickly recalibrate as needs change.
  • Communicate clearly and reliably: your communication, both verbal and written, is clear and compelling. You take communication seriously, and you can be relied upon to steward the experience of both candidates and hiring managers throughout the process. You're comfortable reaching out to potential candidates and responding quickly and professionally to candidate inquiries.
  • Make sound judgments under pressure and uncertainty: you're comfortable making trade-offs and decisions when timelines are tight and information is incomplete.
  • Demonstrate high discretion and professionalism: you will be dealing with confidential and sensitive information and should have strong instincts on what information is shared on a need-to-know basis.
  • Enjoy managing projects end-to-end: you're energized by the prospect of taking ownership of a hiring round from start to finish – almost like a consultant embedded with each team you work with – before moving on to partner with a new team on their next hiring need.
  • Are motivated by principles-first EA: you’re familiar with EA ideas and care about the mission and principles.
  • Are willing to travel: You’ll travel to various conferences and team retreats; about 4-6 times per year internationally.
  • (bonus) Have recruiting experience: while not a requirement, we would also be excited to consider candidates who have previous recruiting experience, whether as a dedicated recruiter or as part of another role.
