About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Actively generate, pitch, and close new SME and business clients
  • Use digital channels, networks, and platforms like Upwork to acquire clients
  • Conduct direct outreach and engage business owners to convert leads into paying clients
  • Manage end-to-end sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals
  • Advise SMEs on digital and workforce transformation opportunities to grow their business
  • Translate client needs into practical growth, capability, and digital adoption solutions
  • Use practitioner experience to support business owners in improving performance and scalability
  • Mentor learners on how to acquire clients and build a digital marketing / digital services agency
  • Share real experience in winning clients, handling objections, and closing deals
  • Guide learners through real-world client acquisition and business-building scenarios
  • Build and grow a community of potential learners around the aspiring one-person company and digital freelancer space.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–7 years of experience in digital, business development, or freelance/agency work
  • Must have personally acquired and closed clients (not just supported delivery)
  • Experience using platforms like Upwork or similar is a strong advantage
  • Strong sales ability and confidence engaging business owners and decision-makers
  • Practitioner mindset — knows how to turn digital capability into business outcomes
  • Entrepreneurial, persuasive, and commercially driven
  • Natural influencer and evangelist — able to inspire confidence and get people to act.
