About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote Bulk Power System reliability through NERC standards compliance monitoring and enforcement
- Support internal and external audit preparation and ensure valid, reliable, sufficient compliance evidence
- Provide guidance supporting operational business-unit risk management under NERC O&P Standards
- Maintain and revise compliance policies, programs, procedures, and infrastructure
- Prepare, coordinate, and support internal, consultant, and regulatory compliance audits, including possible site travel
- Coordinate resolution of compliance issues and develop improvement recommendations and mitigation plans
- Document and submit potential violations to regulatory organizations and track timely resolution
- Use compliance technology to assign, track, and monitor compliance efforts
- Maintain operational support procedures and guidelines
- Coordinate compliance self-certification and data-submission activities
- Monitor NERC Standards Development activities and communicate EDFps positions to NERC
- Ensure business-unit adherence to new or revised NERC and NERC RTO regulatory obligations
- Monitor emerging utility-industry issues through benchmarking and utility forums
- Recommend or implement compliance programs and initiatives, leading project teams as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline required
- Five (5+) or more years of experience in a compliance or audit role required
- Technical knowledge and experience with NERC Operations & Planning standards required
- Experience working in a regulated entity, preferably in the electricity sector
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work professionally with business units on compliance initiatives
- Attention to detail
- Leadership, time management, and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Proficiency with Microsoft software/programs
- Ability to provide technical support to operations and business-unit personnel
- Ability to travel occasionally to generation facilities, third-party sites, industry events, conferences, and meetings
