About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

This role sits alongside the Group BIM Manager and wider operational leadership team.
The Digital Solutions Engineer builds the technology layer that supports and improves how EDC works — through automation, integrations, AI tools, dashboards and digital workflows.
You will design, build and improve practical digital solutions that reduce manual work, improve visibility, support project delivery and help EDC operate more efficiently across all offices.
Owning the development and direction of software automation, tools and internal systems
Defining, owning and delivering integrations between EDC systems, project platforms and AI tools
Leading practical AI adoption across EDC through agentic workflows, LLM APIs and MCP infrastructure
Owning the development of dashboards and data pipelines to improve reporting, forecasting and performance visibility
Identifying, prioritising and converting manual processes into scalable digital solutions across the business
Driving digital capability across BIM, engineering, operations and leadership teams through practical technology solutions
Owning and maintaining EDC’s internal codebase, documentation standards and deployment practices
Working closely with the Group BIM Manager to define and implement BIM-related automation and workflow improvements
Define and implement digital standards, automation frameworks and governance structures across the business
Act as the senior authority for digital solutions, automation delivery and performance across EDC
Establish escalation routes and intervention protocols where digital standards and solutions are not effectively adopted
Align engineering design processes with BIM execution, automation and data outputs
Ensure workflows are scalable, repeatable, automated where possible, and embedded into standards and QA
Lead the evolution of workflows in response to automation, AI and digital innovation
Identify inefficiencies in engineering and BIM delivery
Define, prioritise and implement automation-driven efficiency initiatives across the business
Own business cases for new tools, software and digital capability investment along with owning the digital initiative list.
Track and report measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and predictability
Work with operational leadership to influence and drive accountability across BIM and engineering teams for digital adoption and delivery
Lead and grow digital capability within the business over time
Define digital performance expectations, KPIs and adoption measures across teams
Design and support digital QA frameworks, automation checks and stage-gate improvements
Ensure full compliance with ISO 19650
Support and enhance BIM documentation through automation and digital integration
Provide insight into digital productivity and efficiency to inform pricing and bids
Support project teams with BIM scope and resourcing assumptions
Represent EDC at industry events and promote EDC’s digital engineering capability
Monitor industry trends and assess their relevance to EDC

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ordinary/Foundation/Bachelor’s Degree in BIM or Engineering
Proven experience in designing and implementing digital initiatives
BIM / AEC industry experience an advantage
3+ years’ experience in engineering, BIM, or digital delivery environments
Strong understanding of building services engineering design workflows
Strong working knowledge of Revit and BIM environments (expert-level not required)
Experience improving and evolving engineering-to-BIM workflows through digital solutions
Strong practical knowledge of ISO 19650
Experience working within BIM standards and improving them through automation and digital tools
Experience driving digital transformation in engineering or BIM environments
Ability to identify where automation and AI can improve delivery
Experience embedding new technologies into real project workflows
Ability to influence across teams and drive adoption of digital solutions across a multi-office business
Ability to enforce standards and manage accountability
Strong stakeholder management skills
Commercial awareness of BIM costing, productivity, and bid support
