About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take full ownership of the payroll lifecycle for your assigned portfolio
  • Manage and execute comprehensive monthly payroll runs for a dedicated client portfolio (approximately 800–1,000 payslips)
  • Handle all mandatory filings, including wage tax and social security contributions
  • Act as the primary subject-matter expert for clients on complex wage tax and social security matters
  • Maintain employee master data and coordinate correspondence with federal authorities and health insurance providers
  • Analyze complex payroll discrepancies and perform thorough quality audits
  • Lead year-end closing activities and prepare documentation for external audits
  • Support onboarding of new client accounts and drive process improvements within the payroll team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 2 years of specialized experience in German payroll accounting (Lohnbuchhaltung)
  • Deep, up-to-date knowledge of German wage tax and social security legislation
  • Fluent German (C1 level)
  • Experience with enterprise payroll software (experience with SBS Lohn is a strong advantage)
  • General IT proficiency and advanced MS Office skills
  • Structured, service-oriented working style with resilience in a fast-paced digital environment
  • Specific experience in construction payroll (Baulohn) or the public sector is highly desirable
