About the role

  • Serve as the full-lifecycle owner for Open VSX and Eclipse Foundation-hosted services; accountable for availability, incident response, service scaling, and roadmap execution
  • Coordinate across IT/ Infrastructure, Security, Community Programs, and other teams to ensure unified delivery
  • Own delivery priorities, operational stability, and risk mitigation for assigned services
  • Maintain visible, responsive service health, roadmap, and performance updates for internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead daily operations, monitoring, alerting, incident response, change planning, and postmortems
  • Identify operational risks and technical debt; implement forward-looking improvements
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors/contractors to ensure reliability and support coverage
  • Implement tools and processes that support observability, automation, and operational maturity
  • Build security into service architecture and operations; promote secure-by-design practices
  • Drive delivery of architectural and operational improvements enabling 24/7 uptime, HA, redundancy, and strong security
  • Track and report on KPIs, SLAs, and operational health indicators
  • Provide strategic input on platform operations and technology decisions; inform annual planning and budgeting
  • Contribute to annual planning cycles by informing resource needs, tooling requirements, and infrastructure budgeting

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform operations, or service delivery roles (Platform Manager, Site Reliability Engineer, or Technical Program Owner)
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD systems, observability tools, and incident response practices
  • Practical, hands-on approach with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with comfort working in remote-first and distributed environments
  • Experience managing contractors or vendor partners for delivery or support work
  • Open source experience is a nice-to-have
