Category Manager – New Business

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- You identify new brands, manufacturers, suppliers and assortments with relevant potential for our e‑commerce business.
- You research markets, products, trends, competitors and growth potential, deriving concrete new‑business opportunities from your findings.
- You proactively approach potential partners, establish initial contacts and develop them in a structured way.
- You manage your new‑business pipeline from research and prioritization through outreach and follow‑ups to closing.
- You assess revenue, margin and assortment potential and create simple business cases as a basis for decision‑making.
- You conduct commercial and contract negotiations with new partners and work towards commercially attractive terms.
- You bring new assortments into implementation together with internal stakeholders and ensure handovers are executed cleanly.
- You have a solid grasp of category management fundamentals to realistically assess potential and, when needed, reliably take on selected ongoing topics or cover for colleagues.
Requirements
What you’ll need- You hold a university degree, ideally with a business/economics focus.
- You have initial experience in business development, sales, purchasing, category management, key account management, e‑commerce or a comparable commercial role.
- You enjoy identifying new business opportunities, proactively approaching partners and driving conversations through to a result.
- You are analytically strong, comfortable with numbers and can quickly assess commercial potential.
- You are proficient with Excel/Sheets and can independently create simple business cases.
- You communicate clearly, professionally and persuasively with external potential partners and internal stakeholders.
- You bring negotiation strength, assertiveness and a closing‑oriented mindset.
- You work in a structured way, prioritize clearly and remain committed when handling multiple concurrent topics.
- You are ambitious, performance‑driven and want to take on responsibility and grow in a dynamic e‑commerce environment.
- Very good German and English skills complete your profile.
