About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and deliver E3G’s thought leadership on aligning international investment regime with climate goals.
- Lead analytical work on the risks associated with status quo in investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS), building on E3G’s existing data analysis on global fossil fuel assets protected by ISDS.
- Produce high-quality written outputs, such as blogs and briefings, to communicate E3G’s analysis and proposals to public and private audiences.
- Track relevant developments in international trade and investment policy, as well as emerging research and debate on investment governance.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including governments, civil society organisations, and research organisations both in the UK and internationally.
- In particular, identify opportunities for influence and lead inside-track advocacy with key governments, in collaboration with civil society partners.
- Represent E3G at relevant external events and liaise with media as needed.
- Work collaboratively and flexibly across E3G’s Clean Economy team to support broader priorities relating to trade and industry transition.
- Liaise with other colleagues working on climate diplomacy, finance, energy transition, to integrate this work across relevant outputs and initiatives.
- Provide administrative support where needed, including organising events and preparing.
- Undertake occasional international travel where necessary.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hold a degree or professional qualification in a relevant area.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in trade, investment, climate and energy policy, as well as international affairs, with at least three years’ relevant professional experience.
- Prior knowledge of international trade and investment policy is desirable.
- Have strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting research in a professional and/or academic setting.
- Experience with data analysis and an interest in learning new data skills and tools would be an advantage.
- Have experience of managing relationships with a range of external stakeholders and partners.
- Be able to communicate complex research and policy ideas clearly and accessibly, with credibility to colleagues and external audiences.
- Be collaborative, supportive and collegial, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be well organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
