About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform detailed design of overhead transmission lines, including: Structure spotting and profile development, Plan & profile drawings, Conductor and hardware selection
Execute and review line design using industry-standard tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER)
Perform basic to intermediate calculations for: Sag-tension analysis, Clearance compliance (NESC, GO 95, utility standards)
Coordinate with structural engineers on pole/tower loading and design inputs
Support routing studies, constructability reviews, and cost estimates
Prepare engineering packages, drawings, and material lists
Interface with clients, survey teams, environmental teams, and other stakeholders
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
3–7 years of experience in transmission line design
Proficiency in PLS-CADD required; experience with PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER preferred
Working knowledge of NESC and applicable utility standards
Strong understanding of overhead line design principles and practices
EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress
